Past HVADT Years & Accolades
After a crazy fun summer, football season, and basketball season, the team dedicated their time to community service and rehearsing for competition season. This year at the National Dance Team Championship and Smoky Mountain Dance Competition, the team competed in Small Varsity Jazz and Hip Hop. This year’s hip hop was called “VIP Vibe” and jazz was “Leave a Light On” dedicated to our past dance team sponsor, Donna Henkel – whom lost her battle to cancer this January. We cannot wait to continue to grow as a team in the 2022-2023 season.
This season has been a whirlwind given COVID-19. The team was still able to dance on the sidelines during football season and perform at a few halftimes for basketball. While many competitions were not possible, our team competed virtually for the South Virtual Dance Challenge by UDA in the Fall. We won 1st Overall for our Small Varsity Hip-hop, “Hype;” and got Top 7 for our Small Varsity Jazz, “Warriors.” Both pieces were stunning. We cannot wait to return to NDTC next year!
At NDTC 2020, this team competed Small Varsity Hip Hop and Small Varsity Game Day (11th Place). Both routines were stunning; this experience was what the dancers strived for all season.
At NDTC 2019, this team competed Small Varsity Hip Hop and Medium Varsity Game Day (19th Place).
